Nora's Rambles
Describe your image
Nora Kolada led the rambles at Chaddesley Corbett WI for over 27 years, and they were originally done to help keep the footpaths open. Nora remembers some of her highlights below.
‘How the walks have changed over the years. Especially as sometimes members wore very unsuitable footwear. I remember someone had on silly sandals and she got stuck in all this mud and it was awful. Another time going up quite a big steep hill the sole of her sandal came off and we had to tie it on with plastic bags!
Highlights for me were doing the “Three Peaks” all day ramble, taking in Walsgrove, Woodbury and Abberley Hills. Another was an evening ramble round Arley with a fish and chip supper at the Harbour Inn and a third was in 1995 when we took the County Chairman, Freda Davis, from Chaddesley to Cutnall Green when she did her “Best Foot Forward” around the whole of Worcestershire villages.
I am now 84 years old and it has been my pleasure and privilege to take these rambles over the last 27 years.’
Unfortunately Nora is no longer able to lead the rambles herself so Barbara Lewis is putting together a series of walks for us. The date and time will vary each month depending on who is leading the walk. Check this website for details.
On Monday 7th September 2020 members enjoyed a socially distanced ramble, starting outside St Cassian's church and led by Jo Powick.
We are hoping that we shall be able to start Rambling again very soon, keep checking this website for details.
